What is public engagement and how can I get involved?
Public engagement is about asking people for their ideas and feedback before making decisions that may affect them. We know City decisions can affect your daily life and the lives of your neighbours. Public engagement helps the City better understand community needs before decisions are made.
Why should you engage?
- Because your ideas matter. We recognize that policy, project, program and service decisions are greatly improved by feedback from our community. Your participation helps local democracy thrive.
- You bring a unique perspective. Saskatoon is home to people from many backgrounds, experiences and perspectives. When you take part in engagement activities, you help the City create policies and programs that better reflect the needs of our diverse and growing community.
- Advance the vision for Saskatoon. Our shared vision for Saskatoon is a City that meets the needs of today while preparing for the possibility of tomorrow. To get there, we need your perspective. You can read more in the City's Strategic Plan.
How can I engage with the City of Saskatoon?
The City recently redesigned and relaunched its engagement platform. Engage Saskatoon is a central hub to share information and receive feedback. Projects that are currently active are shown on the homepage. There are various ways to participate - for example, commenting on a proposal, prioritizing or taking a survey. If you sign up, you can tailor the projects that you view and receive notifications of new projects that maybe of interest to you.
The launch of Engage Saskatoon is an important step in strengthening how we connect with our community. By providing a wide range of tools and processes, the Engage Saskatoon helps the City gather meaningful feedback and better understand what our community needs.
